Universal remotes don’t work on most modern garage doors.

Send a photo of your remote, motor or control box. We’ll identify your exact system and tell you the replacement that actually works — programmed before it leaves us.

  • Programmed to your door before despatch — it arrives working
  • We won’t guess — if a photo can’t settle it, a person works it out
  • Somfy, Hörmann, Chamberlain, LiftMaster, Marantec, CAME, Nice

Your remote, motor or control box

Whichever you can actually get to. The label matters more than the picture.

How it works

No part numbers, no frequencies, no working out what a receiver is. Send a picture.

STEP 01

Send a photo

Your remote, the motor unit on the ceiling, or the receiver box on the wall. Whatever you can reach.

STEP 02

We identify the system

We read the model, frequency and code type, and check it against verified records. If we’re not certain, we ask for another photo. We never guess.

STEP 03

It arrives working

Where your system allows it, we program the remote to your door before despatch. Open the box, press the button.

Why the £12 universal remote didn’t work

Garage systems made in roughly the last fifteen years use rolling code. The signal changes every single time you press the button, so there is nothing fixed for a universal remote to copy. It cannot be taught, however many times you try.

Somfy RTS, Hörmann BiSecur, Chamberlain Security+ 2.0 and Marantec Digital all work this way. If yours is one of them, no universal will ever work — and the listing doesn’t tell you that before you buy.

Fixed code — older systems

DIP switches or a single unchanging signal. A universal can copy this, and usually does. Buy the cheap one.

Rolling code — most modern systems

Nothing to copy. You need the genuine remote for your system, paired to your motor. This is what we do.

Programming help included

Most remotes that “don’t work” just need pairing. If yours won’t play, ring us and we’ll walk you through it — usually five minutes. An optional Correct Remote Guarantee is available at checkout.
