Which Somfy system do you have?

Somfy garage motors use one of two radio systems:

• RTS runs on 433.42 MHz and is one-way: the remote sends and the motor listens. Look for RTS on the label, as in Keytis RTS remotes and Dexxo Pro RTS motors.
• io-homecontrol, usually just called io, runs on 868 MHz and is two-way, so the motor can report back to the remote. Look for io on the label, as in Keytis io remotes and Dexxo Pro io motors.

An RTS remote won’t work an io motor, and an io remote won’t work an RTS motor. Both are rolling code, so a universal copying remote won’t work on either. Rolling code vs fixed code explains why.

No clear label? What to photograph

The motor label settles it fastest. It will say RTS or io, or give the frequency: 433 MHz means RTS, 868 MHz means io.

• The motor unit. On an up-and-over door it’s on the ceiling. On a roller door it’s usually inside the roller at the top, so photograph the end of the roller box and any label you can see.
• The back of the remote and inside the battery cover, where the system name is often printed.
• Any wall switch or receiver near the door, with its label.
