What we collect when you send a photo or buy a remote, why we need it, who else sees it, and what you can ask us to do with it.
Who we are
Freddi Lavender, trading as WhichRemote, is responsible for your information. You can contact us at info.whichremote@gmail.com.
Your photos
When you choose a photo, our site reads it on your own device to suggest a match. Nothing is sent to us at that point. If you press Send, the photo, the text read from it and the suggested match come to us with your message.
A photo of your garage or home is personal information, so please leave out anything you’d rather we didn’t see, like a house number. If we’d like to keep a photo as a reference for identifying remotes, we remove anything that could identify you or your home first.
What we collect and why
- When you send a photo: your name, email or phone number, your message, the photos and the suggested match. We use them to work out which remote you need and to reply to you.
- When you buy: your name, delivery address, email, phone number and what you bought. We use them to supply your order and deal with any problems. Stripe handles your card details. We never see or store your card number.
We use your information because you’ve asked us to identify a remote or supply one, and because the law requires us to keep records of sales.
Who else sees it
- Netlify, which hosts our website and receives the form when you press Send.
- Stripe, which takes payments.
- Google, which provides our email and the fonts on our site.
- jsDelivr, which delivers the photo-reading tool to your browser.
- The delivery company that brings your order.
We don’t sell your information, and we don’t use it for advertising.
How long we keep it
Photos and messages from enquiries that don’t lead to an order are deleted after 12 months. Order records are kept for as long as the law requires for tax purposes, usually six years.
Your rights
You can ask us for a copy of the information we hold about you, and ask us to correct it, delete it, or stop using it. Email info.whichremote@gmail.com. If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
Cookies
Our site doesn’t use cookies for tracking or advertising. Stripe’s payment page uses the cookies it needs to take your payment securely.
