Ellard garage door remote replacement: identify yours

Which Ellard remote do you have?

The ones you’re most likely to find:

• Genesis is Ellard’s current system. Its control panel comes with a grey handset that has up, stop and down buttons, and it also works with a white handset.
• Athena, second generation used that white handset, which is now part of the Genesis range. It works with Genesis panels.
• Athena, first generation used a black handset with silver buttons. It won’t work with the grey or white handsets, or the other way round.
• Group Control and Easy Fit panels have handsets of their own.

The colour of your handset and the control panel on the wall near the door are usually the quickest way to tell them apart.

Genesis and Athena handsets use rolling code, so a universal copying remote won’t work. Rolling code vs fixed code explains why.

No clear label? What to photograph

These usually settle it:

• Your handset, front and back, so we can see its colour and any label.
• The control panel on the wall near the door, with its cover on, plus any label.
• Any paperwork that came with the door, if you still have it.
