About the LiftMaster TX4EV

The TX4EV is the original 2012 Evolution-series remote from LiftMaster, a slim fob with four buttons hidden under a sliding cover and a blue light. It works with the LM60EV, LM80EV, LM100EV, LM50 and their S versions, along with the 860EV and STAR1000EV receivers. It has since been succeeded by the TX4EVS and TX4EVF.

What it looks like: This slim black and silver fob has four black buttons hidden under a sliding cover, a blue light and a keyring loop.

Don’t mix it up: It looks similar to the TX4RUNI and TX4UNIS, but those run on a different frequency with a white rather than blue light, and the two aren’t compatible.

How it’s set up

This is a rolling-code remote: its signal changes every time you press it, so a universal copying remote won’t work. It has to be paired with your system, either at the motor or receiver, usually with a learn or program button, or from a remote that already works. It normally takes a couple of minutes.
