About the Hörmann HSM 4 (40 MHz)

The HSM 4 is a mini handset with light grey buttons from Hörmann’s older 40 MHz generation, made for Series 1 SupraMatic, ProMatic and EcoMatic operators around 2000 to 2004, along with matching HE receivers and Garador operators from before 2005. It runs on a different frequency to any 868 MHz system, so a newer BiSecur handset can’t be used in its place.

Is this your remote?

Look on the label or the back of the remote for:

What it looks like: A mini grey handset with four light grey buttons.

Don’t mix it up: It shares the same body as the 868 MHz and 26.975 MHz versions of the HSM 4, so check that the buttons are light grey rather than blue or green before buying.

Also sold as: HSM4-40, HSM 4 40.685 MHz, HSM4 40, device type S850.

What it works with

  • Hörmann Series 1 operators c. 2000-2004: SupraMatic, ProMatic Series 1, EcoMatic
  • HE1-40 / HE2-40 / HE3-40 receivers
  • Garador 40 MHz operators before 2005

How it’s set up

This is a fixed-code remote: it sends the same signal every time, so you set it to match the code your door already uses, either by copying it from your current remote or by setting the same code inside it. Rolling code vs fixed code explains the difference.

We email simple steps for your system with every order, and if it won’t pair, email us and we’ll walk you through it.
