About the Novoferm Mini-Novotron 502

The Novotron 502 is a rolling code remote supplied as standard with Novoferm’s NovoPort garage door operator and used across other Novoferm operators from 2008 onwards. It also works with Tormatic and Siebau operators, which share the same electronics under a different brand name. It has not been replaced; it remains Novoferm’s current standard remote.

What it looks like: A small black and grey fob shaped like a rounded teardrop, with two or four round buttons.

Don’t mix it up: It looks very similar to the 4-button Novotron 504 and to the older Novotron 302, which has a different, boxier shape and may use a different code.

How it’s set up

This is a rolling-code remote: its signal changes every time you press it, so a universal copying remote won’t work. It has to be paired with your system, either at the motor or receiver, usually with a learn or program button, or from a remote that already works. It normally takes a couple of minutes. Seen it cheaper somewhere else?

Check it’s the genuine Novoferm remote. Many cheaper listings are copies or “compatible” remotes, not the manufacturer’s own. A genuine Novoferm remote has the Novoferm name on it, usually on the front or on the label on the back, along with the model name. Copies often leave the name off, and some won’t pair with a rolling-code system at all. A universal remote that works by copying can’t copy a rolling code.
