How to pair a LiftMaster TX4UNIS, TX4UNIF or Chamberlain TX4RUNI remote

These 433 MHz handsets work with most Chamberlain, MotorLift and LiftMaster openers, gate controls and receivers, except the LM50K, ML510 and HE500AN. The exact steps at the opener are in your opener’s own manual, so this page covers the remote’s side.

For: Most 433 MHz Chamberlain, MotorLift and LiftMaster openers, gate controls and external receivers

Before you start

  • Find the programming button on your opener or receiver. Your opener’s manual calls the section "Program your opener and remote control" or "Radio".
  • These remotes are 433 MHz, so they don’t fit the 868 MHz LM60, LM80, LM100 and LM130 EVFA openers.

Pair a button

  1. On the universal remote, press and hold the LEFT and RIGHT buttons together until its LED comes on steadily. You now have about 30 seconds.
  2. Press the programming button on your opener, control board or receiver. Its programming LED comes on steadily.
  3. On the universal remote, choose one of its four buttons and press it repeatedly until the opener’s programming LED responds. How the LED responds is in your opener’s manual.
  4. Press a different button on the universal remote to leave programming mode. Its LED goes out.
  • If it fails, the 30 seconds probably ran out (start again from step 1), or the last step was missed, or the opener isn’t compatible. Each of the four buttons can be given its own code.

Good to know

  • Chamberlain says non-original remotes can make a door open on its own and can void the guarantee.

Deleting remotes

  • To delete the remotes, press the programming button on the opener until its programming LED goes out.

Not covered on this page

How the opener’s LED responds in step 3 depends on your opener, so use its manual for that part.
